Building business value through community prosperity in human-centric value chains.

The prospr.world

Corporate value and impact.

prospr.co guides companies to build socially responsible value chains. Based on a science-based and tested framework – the Prosperity Co-Creation Guide. Creating concrete initiatives, including the people companies depend on in their value chain – from day 1. Making sure impact is direct & true, opening doors for more direct sourcing models, limiting human rights risk (regulatory & reputational).

Creating better value chains. True stakeholder involvement, stable and socially responsible sourcing, de-risking. Real impact — real business value.

Bringing socially responsible value chains to life – with the people.

prospr.foundry brings in the (informal) workers and communities already embedded in the companies’ value chain. This not-for-profit side builds and guides local initiatives, designed through the Prosperity Co-Creation Guide - while ensuring community ownership. Enabling workers and communities to have a seat at the table and build a good life from the work they do in the value chains that depend on them. Revenue from prospr.co, plus other funding, pays for the work.

Creating prosperity for the value chain’s workers and communities.

Sustainability advisory

Rooted in hands-on knowledge and experience of making sustainability stick in organizations. Big questions: strategy. Making it happen: transformation and implementation.

From the research

The Prosperity Co-Creation Guide

One framework for a guided approach to design and implement initiatives that create prosperity for (informal) workers and their communities with the involvement of value chain stakeholders. This systems approach allows companies to connect directly, yet guided and supported, with often marginalized workers in their supply chains.

It takes a group through ten steps in three stages: first, mapping who is involved and agreeing what a good life means to the workers; then, turning that into a shared plan with clear goals, practical tools, a work schedule, and a way to pay for it; and finally, putting the plan into action and maintaining implementation focus.

The PCCG was developed as part of the PhD research by Alina Marm. It is built on theories of system and behavioural change as well as practical methods and experience from project management. Informal plastic recycling in Nairobi was the pilot: workers and other partners used the guide to create a community-owned project called Tabo Mabo (“better waste, better life”), showing that it can turn people’s own ideas of a good life into a concrete plan they own together. See below.

A preprint of the PhD thesis is available on request.

Tabo Mabo, Nairobi

Tabo Mabo grew out of doctoral research at the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity, with informal recyclers in Nairobi. It is the road test of the Prosperity Co-Creation Guide. The name Tabo Mabo comes from the Swahili for “better waste, better life”: taka bora, maisha bora.

Based on its application concrete impact was created during the research and learnings on a successful application of the PCCG generated. The results of the road test are the motivation for establishing prospr.co and prospr.foundry.

It is not an initiative of prospr.co or prospr.foundry. Personal investments and a GoFundMe provided basic support for especially women waste workers. The work continues.
